Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein said DeWitt F. “Mac” McCarley will join the firm’s Charlotte office as a partner in the government and public policy practice group. McCarley has served as Charlotte city attorney for 17 years.

Also in the Charlotte office, partner David Allen has been named chairman of the North Carolina State Bar ethics committee.

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton said Nicole Comerford, Amanda Johnson, Kate McCurry and Thurston Webb have joined the firm’s Winston-Salem office as associates. All will work on the complex business litigation team.

Also at Kilpatrick Townsend, Jill Cox has been elected to the North Carolina Bar Association’s labor and employment law section council for a three-year term.

Molly A. Whitlatch has been named a partner at Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman. Her practice focuses on commercial and real estate litigation in WNHP’s Burlington office.

Brian Kinsley has been named practice group leader for mass tort and product liability at Greensboro’s  Crumley Roberts. The firm focuses on personal injury, workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims.

Young Moore and Henderson in Raleigh said Stephen A. Brown has been named an associate, and will practice on the firm’s estate planning, probate trust and business law team.

Richard “Rich” Drake has joined Nexsen Pruet’s Charlotte office as a partner. Drake becomes the fifth new attorney to join the firm’s Charlotte office this year and the eleventh added overall in North Carolina in 2011.

Matt Van Sickle has joined Wall Templeton & Haldrup’s Raleigh office, where he will focus on complex litigation, insurance disputes and construction law. Van Sickle previously was with the Winston-Salem firm of Ross & Van Sickle.

Spilman Thomas & Battle said education attorney Drew H. Davis has joined the firm’s Winston-Salem office as counsel. Before joining Spilman, Davis served as general counsel to the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education.

Chicago-based intellectual property firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione said Allyn Rhodes, of the firm’s Research Triangle Park office, has been elected as a shareholder.

Jessica Yañez has joined the immigration practice of Greensboro’s Chapman Law Firm. Yañez is a recent graduate of the Elon University School of Law.

Chris Beacham joined Rose Rand Wallace’s Raleigh office, where he will focus on condemnation/eminent domain and contract litigation,

Moore & Van Allen said Todd C. Taylor has joined the Charlotte office as senior counsel, where he will expand the firm’s intellectual property services. Taylor previously served as assistant general counsel at Bank of America.
