State v. Gorman The trial court’s orders modifying defendant’s probation period resulted in a term of eight years. Such a probation period clearly exceeds the statutory five-year probation period maximum set out in G.S. § 15A-1342(a). The trial court’s orders lack statutory authority and are therefore void.
