• NCPA is proud to once again offer the Meredith R. Pollette scholarships, which are open to anyone who will be taking the CLA or ACP exams. These scholarships will cover the exam fees. Participants do not have to be NALA members, but must be NCPA members in good standing and meet the eligibility criteria to sit for the CLA/CP or ACP exams. N.C. State Bar Board of Paralegal Certification
• The board will have an open seat for a certified paralegal beginning October 2010 and the nomination process is beginning. The following paralegal associations may submit nominations: NCBA Paralegal Division, Research Triangle Paralegal Association, Alamance Paralegal Association and Asheville Paralegal Association.
Tara Wilder, assistant director of the Board of Paralegal Certification, will contact each association to submit nominees. Voting will take place online, and the top two candidates will be up for selection at the State Bar Council meeting in October.
Certified paralegals interested in serving on the board should contact one of the eligible paralegal associations and request a nomination.
Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association
Upcoming events:
• For 2010, RWPA membership meetings will occur bi-monthly. Meetings will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of February, April, June, August, October and December at the Holiday Inn, 4100 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. Featured at each luncheon are guest speakers from a variety of practice areas and local businesses. The 2010 annual seminar will not be affected by the change and will proceed as scheduled.
