Prosecutors seek death penalty in triple murder

CHARLOTTE (AP) — Prosecutors in Charlotte say they will seek a death sentence against one of three men charged with killing a couple and their 4-year-old daughter last year.

The Charlotte Observer reported that prosecutors plan to seek a death sentence if 21-year-old Linny Barcliff is convicted.

Lorenzo and Cheryl Graves and their daughter, Oznola, were killed at their apartment last August. Police said the parents were shot in the head. Relatives said the girl was stabbed.

Prosecutors said they will not seek the death penalty against 25-year-old Joseph Amous or 27-year-old Lorenzo White. Both also are charged with murder.

Barcliff’s lawyer, Norman Butler, says he is not surprised by the decision by prosecutors. Assistant District Attorney Bill Stetzer would not talk about the decisions in the case.
