Fisher Housing Companies v. Hendricks (Lawyers Weekly No. 12-16-0848, 10 pp.) (Rick Elmore, J.) Appealed from Edgecombe County Superior Court. (Clifton W. Everett Jr., J.) N.C. App. Unpub.

Holding: Where a contractor who builds “stick-built” homes testified that he had no experience with modular homes, the trial court correctly determined that the contractor lacked the requisite level of skill to testify as an expert in the construction of a modular home.

We affirm judgment for plaintiff.

Since the contractor was not qualified as an expert witness, the trial court appropriately restricted his testimony to “what he would do in building a regular house … and then what he observed in this one.”
