FAYETTEVILLE (AP) — Text messages between a general facing a court-martial in North Carolina and the woman that accuses him of forcible sex show a relationship that was sometimes playful and at other times angry.
The Fayetteville Observer (http://bit.ly/Y1rPb7) obtained seven months of text messages to and from Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair.
In one message, she tells him he is a “beautiful, magnificent man.” He responds that he loves her so much.
Sinclair faces charges including adultery, attempting to violate a legal order, communicating threats, conduct unbecoming an officer, forcible sodomy, indecent acts, mistreatment and wrongful sexual conduct.
Sinclair was a deputy commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division when the accusations were made against him.
The next hearing is May 14. Sinclair’s court-martial is to start June 25.
