GRAHAM (AP) — A judge has ordered a doctor to tell the Alamance County jail about an inmate’s medication.
The Times-News of Burlington reported that Superior Court Judge Howard Manning Jr. on July 8 also ordered the doctor to provide instructions for the medicine.
Forty-three-year-old Kara Fitzgerald Overman of Burlington complained the jail staff was not providing all of her medicine during the first 20 days she was in jail on a breaking and entering and larceny guilty plea. Overman is serving parts of each of the next five months in jail.
Defense attorney William Hughes says a jail nurse had not allowed Overman to receive some of the 19 medicines.
The nurse said some of the medicines are controlled substances not normally allowed in the jail.
Overman returns to jail next month.
