FORT BRAGG (AP) — Health officials in Cumberland County say a school worker at Fort Bragg may have exposed more than a dozen people to tuberculosis.
The county’s Department of Public Health is investigating the suspected case.
Officials say the employee at Albritton Middle School may have exposed 18 people to the disease between Jan. 1 and May 30.
Officials have not identified the sick person or the 18 people who may have been exposed.
Health Director Buck Wilson says a patient contact investigation indicates there is no need to skin test everyone at the school. Wilson says people who may have been infected have been contacted by the Health Department and will get tuberculosis tests.
Officials say it could take six to eight weeks to confirm the disease.
