ASHEVILLE (AP) — Police in Asheville say a woman previously cited for driving while impaired after a weekend accident is now charged with felony death by vehicle.
Authorities said 45-year-old Kimberly Patience Folston caused the death of Sierra Marie Allen of Arden on Sept. 7 when her car crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into Allen’s moped. Allen died at the scene.
Court documents say police learned Folston was impaired by alcohol and possibly other substances, and that her actions led to the collision.
Folston was released on a $60,000 unsecured bond and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. It couldn’t be determined if she has an attorney.
