GASTON (AP) — Authorities say a grandmother’s phone call to police led to the arrest of her grandson and another man accused of stealing from her church.
The Gaton Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/18OWQ6O ) that 22-year-old David Carmack and 18-year-old James Ammons Jr. are accused of breaking into storage buildings at a Baptist church in Mount Holly, stealing a van and taking $600 worth of tools.
A police report says the stolen van identified the church on both sides.
Mount Holly Police Capt. Shannon Harris says they were loading property into the van at Ammons’ home when his father saw them. They took off, but the father called his mom, and she called police.
Police arrested Carmack when they located the van. Ammons got away, but his father brought him to the station Tuesday.
