Charlotte TSA supervisor fired in wake of probe

The Associated Press//January 15, 2014

CHARLOTTE (AP) — The Transportation Security Administration says it has fired a supervisor at Charlotte Douglas International Airport following allegations of theft.

The Charlotte Observer reported that TSA spokeswoman Sari Koshetz said an investigation is continuing.

Airport spokeswoman Lee Davis directed questions to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, which did not immediately respond to a request for more information on Wednesday.

Rooting out theft by TSA employees has been a focus of TSA administrator John Pistole. In Charlotte last year, he told the newspaper it was one of his priorities.

Pistole said the TSA was conducting random “integrity checks” of employees by leaving valuables at checkpoints and seeing if they were turned in.
