Bar Discipline Roundup: Former DA suspended indefinitely

Background: Gore, the former district attorney for Brunswick, Bladen and Columbus counties, pleaded guilty Aug. 19 to misdemeanor willful neglect to discharge a duty of his office after he signed off on false expense reports for Elaine Kelley, a former assistant DA. As part of the plea bargain, his license to practice law was suspended for six months. On Feb. 21, after those six months had passed, the Disciplinary Hearing Commission suspended his license until the conclusion of all disciplinary proceedings before the State Bar. Gore, who was a DA for 20 years, lost his re-election bid in 2010.
