Former Special Deputy Attorney General for the N.C. Department of Justice, Kay Hobart, joined Parker Poe as a Partner in the Raleigh office.

Jamila B. Granger has joined Primo Water Corporation in Winston-Salem as vice president and general counsel.  Granger has more than 15 years of in-house and law firm experience.

The Honorable Fred G. Morrison, Jr. received an award for his judicial service from the N.C. Police Benevolent Association Board of Directors.

K&L Gates has named eight as partners in their N.C. offices.  In Charlotte, it named Stephanie Greer Fulcher, Jonathan Goldberg, Christine DeMaere Hoke, and Melissa Kato.  In Raleigh, it named Brian Fork and John Gardner and in the Research Triangle Park, it named Amy Garrigues and Michael Ovsievsky.

The American Board of Certification has unanimously elected Smith Debnam attorney Bettie Kelley Sousa as an Emeritus Director.  Sousa is in Smith Debnam’s Raleigh office.

Higgins Benjamin announced that Peter D. Isakoff has joined the firm.  Higgins Benjamin is located in Greensboro.

Kilpatrick Townsend has been named one of the top six trademark practices in North Carolina by the 2014 World Trademark Review 1000—The Definitive Guide to Trademark Legal Service.

Gregg McDougal and Mike Kaeding have joined Alston and Bird’s Research Triangle Park location as partners.

John R. Wester, an attorney with Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson, has been named for the second consecutive year to BTI Client Service All-Stars.  These are attorneys recognized by corporate counsel for excellence.  Wester is one of five N.C. attorneys included in this ranking.

McGuire, Wood & Bissette announced that Rick Jackson and Sabrina Presnell Rockoff have been appointed as shareholders in the firm.  Both Jackson and Rockoff are in the firm’s Asheville office.

Sodoma Law of Charlotte announced the creation of Sodoma Law Foundation, a charitable organization that will further the ongoing tradition of philanthropy at the firm.
