Wishart Norris Henninger & Pittman announced that Bryan Norris has joined the firm as an associate. His practice at the firm’s Burlington office will focus on working with the litigation team.

The real estate law firm FrickTrent announced that it acquired the Law Office of Brad Watson. Attorney Brad Watson has been named managing attorney of FrickTrent’s North Carolina offices.

Charlotte Mayor Dan Clodfelter has joined Parker Poe’s Charlotte office as a member of its bankruptcy, reorganization and creditors’ rights practice group.

The Law Office of Thomas D. Bumgardner has opened in the Ballantyne Corporate Park in Charlotte. The practice will specialize in family law, personal injury and DUI/DWI defense.

John Fennebresque, a Charlotte-based lawyer at McGuireWoods and University of North Carolina alumnus, has been elected chairman of the UNC Board of Governors, the policymaking body of the 17-campus statewide university system.

Moore & Van Allen is pleased to announce that the firm’s public affairs counsel Robert “Rob” R. Smith was appointed to serve on the board of directors of RecyclonomicsSC. Smith’s term commenced in May, and he will serve for two years.

Tara N. Cho, an associate at Poyner Spruill, has been named to Lawyers of Color’s Second Annual Hot List, which recognizes early- to mid-career minority attorneys working as in-house counsel, government attorneys, and law firm associates and partners.

Sunita Lough, commissioner of the IRS Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division (“TEGE”), presented Marty Martin of the Martin Law Firm in Raleigh with the IRS TEGE Commissioner’s Award in Washington, D.C. Martin’s award was given “in recognition and appreciation of your dedication and outstanding personal contribution to accomplishing the goals and mission of the Tax Exempt & Government Entities Division and the Internal Revenue Service.”

Nexsen Pruet remains on The National Law Journal’s list of the 350 largest law firms in the United States. The firm is ranked the 224th largest law firm in the country.
