Moore & Van Allen announced that Minnie Kim will join its Charlotte office Intellectual Property team as an associate and that Benjamin Hicks and Andrew Price have been admitted to the North Carolina State Bar.

Kim’s intellectual property practice involves a wide-range of industries, with a focus on patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation.

Hicks’ practice involves a broad range of general corporate matters, with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments.  He also advises clients on corporate governance issues.

Price represents financial institutions, banks, and private equity sponsors in the structuring and documentation of syndicated credit facilities and acquisition finance.

Mullen Holland & Cooper announced that five Charlotte-based attorneys—Jennifer Youngs, Dennis Guthrie, Neal Davis, John Hasty, and Justin Davis—will join its litigation practice.

Youngs was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for ten years, where she prosecuted civil and criminal financial cases. She is nationally known for her expertise in financial litigation.

Guthrie, Hasty, and Neal and Justin Davis were members of the Charlotte firm Guthrie, Davis, Henderson & Staton. Guthrie’s practice included complex civil litigation, alcoholic beverage control law and serious personal injury. Neal Davis is a certified mediator and a litigator with an emphasis on premises and product liability defense and commercial litigation. Hasty has practiced law for over fifty years and specializes in media law, commercial and construction litigation, and land use and zoning law. Justin Davis’ practice, focuses on premises liability defense, general civil and business litigation, and dram shop liability defense.

Edward F. Hennessey, IV, an attorney with Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A., has been confirmed as the 37th president of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA).

As president, Hennessey plans to focus on enhancing the association’s profile with the legislature and within the business community with a special focus on judicial and administration of justice issues.
