WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A survivor of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks at New York’s World Trade Center is scheduled to address a criminal justice convention in South Carolina.
Joseph Dittmar of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is the keynote speaker on Friday at the South Carolina Blacks in Criminal Justice’s Organization Annual Conference in West Columbia.
Dittmar is an insurance executive who was attending a meeting on the 105th floor of Two World Trade Center on 9/11. Organizers say only seven of the 54 executives at that gathering survived the attacks.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Remembering the Past, Leading the Future.”
