CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A man suspected of killing his wife in South Carolina has died after shooting himself inside the motel room where he was holed up for 12 hours.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told local media outlets that 24-year-old Damien Williams died at around 2 a.m. Monday from injuries of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Greenville, South Carolina, man shot himself at a Charlotte motel over the weekend. Authorities say Williams killed 31-year-old Vanessa Perry Williams at their South Carolina home, then went to the motel.
After an hours-long standoff, police broke down the door when they heard shots. Williams was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Two teenagers in the room were OK. Police haven’t said why the teens were there.
