Columbus County deputies say man killed

CERRO GORDO (AP) — Columbus County sheriff’s deputy say a man whose body was found in his home earlier this week had been killed.

Sheriff Lewis Hatcher said in a statement that the man had been reported missing from his home in Cerro Gordo late Monday.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that deputies returning to the home Tuesday morning found the man’s body inside the home.

His name has not been released while relatives are notified.

An autopsy conducted in Raleigh determined the man died of a gunshot wound.

No other information has been released about the shooting death.
