DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Police say a North Carolina officer has been shot by a suspect he had just brought to the county jail.
Durham police spokesman Wil Glenn tells the News & Observer of Raleigh that the shooting happened around 4 a.m. Monday, and the officer suffered minor injuries.
It was not immediately clear how the suspect obtained the gun.
Glenn says the officer was treated and released from a hospital. The names of those involved haven’t been released.
No other details were immediately available. A spokesman did not immediately respond to messages from The Associated Press on Monday morning.
