FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A 16-year-old student at a Fayetteville high school has been charged with coercing teen girls to send him nude photos of themselves.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office told local media that the Freedom Christian Academy student has been charged with 44 counts of sexual exploitation and three counts of extortion.
An arrest warrant says the victims were between the ages of 14 and 16. The warrant did not say how many victims were involved.
The sheriff’s office said it got a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in February stating that someone was coercing juveniles to photograph and videotape themselves using Instagram and kik social media accounts.
The investigation led to the boy’s home last month, where detectives seized a computer and other electronic devices.
