The North Carolina State Bar recently passed an amendment to state bar rules that would require annual technology training for attorneys.
If approved by the state Supreme Court, the measure would make North Carolina the second state in the country to make such a requirement, according to a news release from Womble Bond Dickinson.
The rule would mandate that all attorneys in the state receive one hour of technology training as part of their annual 12-hour CLE requirement.
Charlotte lawyer Mark Henriques, who chairs the bar’s ethics committee, said of the proposed rule change, “Attorneys must have some understanding about how technology is affecting their practice.”
