CHARLOTTE (AP) A North Carolina man is suing a police officer who is shown in body-cam video putting his gun to the man’s head and threatening to kill him.
The lawsuit filed in federal court this week says former Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer Jon Dunham assaulted James Yarborough in 2016 while violating his constitutional protections against search and seizure. Dunham is also accused of filing trumped-up charges and a false incident report.
Video shows Dunham putting his gun to Yarborough’s head and threatening to kill him if he didn’t allow himself to be handcuffed. Dunham was also seen using an electric stun gun on Yarborough while he and other officers were on top of him.
Dunham, now a corporal for Davidson police, has not responded to calls seeking comment.
