RALEIGH (AP) A judge is ordering the release of video showing a new confrontation involving a man prosecutors say was beaten by three law enforcement officers.
Wake County Superior Court Judge A. Graham Shirley ruled June 8 in favor of releasing video after news outlets including The Associated Press went to court to request they be made public.
The video taken last June 3 was expected to show some of what led to 29-year-old Kyron Hinton being charged with kicking a sheriff’s deputy. Hinton had reported a shooting near his mother’s home, while his mother was also calling 911 to request help with Hinton.
A Wake County sheriff’s deputy and two state troopers were charged with felony assault for allegedly hitting Hinton during a confrontation two months ago.
