Order relocates court functions in Jones, Onslow counties

Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Martin has issued an order declaring that catastrophic conditions resulting from Hurricane Florence continue to exist in Jones County and Onslow County, two of the counties hit the hardest by flooding from the storm.

The Oct. 8 order permits the superior and district courts in Jones County to conduct court functions, and the clerk of superior court and magistrates to perform their duties, at the Former Jones County Administration Building in Trenton until Nov. 7.

The order also permits the superior and district courts in Onslow County to conduct court functions, and the clerk of superior court and magistrates to perform their duties, at the Government Complex Center in Jacksonville until Nov. 7.

The order is effectively immediately can be extended in whole or part for additional 30-day periods if necessary.
