New chief district court judges in Districts 16A, 19B

North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Martin has appointed Judge Amanda “Amy” Wilson as chief district court judge for District 16A, effective Dec. 1. Wilson will succeed Chief Judge Scott Brewer upon his retirement.

Martin also appointed Judge Lee W. Gavin as chief district court judge for Judicial District 19B, effective Jan. 1. Gavin will succeed Chief Judge Jayrene R. Maness upon her retirement.

Both districts will have their boundaries altered at year’s end due to the redrawing of judicial district lines. District 16A currently covers Anson, Hoke, Richmond and Scotland counties, but will lose Hoke County on Jan. 1. District 19B currently covers Randolph and Montgomery counties, but will cover only Randolph County after this year.
