Matt Chaney//November 29, 2018

The North Carolina Court of Appeals met at the Catawba County Justice Center in Newton Nov. 14, as part of a special session.

The three-judge panel heard cases from Madison and Forsyth counties. Chief Judge Linda McGee, Judge Richard Dietz and Judge John Arrowood served on the panel, the North Carolina Judicial Branch said in a news release.

The special session was held in an effort to educate students and residents in the area about the court system, McGee said in the release.

50 students from Catawba County schools attended the event, which was organized by Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Nathaniel Poovey and Catawba County Bar President Raven Barron.
