NCBA’s new president brings focus on smaller firms

Leaders of the N.C. Bar Association traditionally hail from some of the state’s largest law firms, but incoming president R. Michael Wells Sr. is a small-firm man. He has something of a soft spot for the little guys, and he intends to help them succeed. While at the helm of the NCBA, Wells said he will urge small-firm lawyers who have document-driven practices to expand their areas of expertise so they can remain competitive at a time when online legal service providers are increasingly encroaching on their territory.
