Matthew Leerberg is a partner at Fox Rothschild in Raleigh, with more than 17 years of practice concentrating in appellate advocacy. He leads the firm’s Appellate Practice Group nationally and its appellate team in North Carolina.

Leerberg is the co-author, with Beth Scherer, of North Carolina Appellate Practice and Procedure, published by LexisNexis — the leading treatise in the field. He served as chair of both the Appellate Rules Committee and the Appellate Practice Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.

One notable matter includes Town of Apex v. Rubin, in which the North Carolina Supreme Court upheld his client’s constitutional rights against government overreach. He also serves on the 4th Circuit’s Criminal Justice Act panel and recently secured reversals for two defendants permitted to withdraw guilty pleas based on government misconduct.

He said lawyers across the state know they can call him anytime for appellate advice — and that he will always make time to help.
