CHARLOTTE (AP) — Phillip Redmond and one of his deputies have settled two women’s allegations they were sexually harassed by the former head of a police agency’s domestic violence unit.

The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1tJM78o ) that court records show Redmond and former sheriff’s domestic violence investigator Ben Jenkins settled the suit in mediation.

The lawsuit claimed the sheriff’s office failed to take appropriate action against Jenkins and never provided training for its officers until three years after one of the woman’s 2009 complaints.

The suit sought more than $10,000 in damages for emotional distress. Neither Redmond nor Jenkins were available for comment Thursday.
