Cooper taps new D.A. for 3 southern counties

Gov. recently elevated an assistant to the lead prosecutor’s position in her district along the .

was appointed district attorney in on Sept. 30, a news release from Cooper’s office says. She succeeds , who is retiring.

The district serves Anson, Richmond and Scotland counties.

“Jamie is an experienced prosecutor and is prepared to step into her new role,” Cooper said in the release. “She will serve the people of this district with distinction, and I am grateful for her service to her community.”

Adams takes the position after having served as chief in the district. She also previously served as an assistant district attorney in Prosecutorial Districts 25 and 26.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the and her Juris Doctorate from , a private school with campuses in Lansing, Michigan, and Riverview, Florida.
