Three North Carolinians with ties to the legal community are among a lengthy list of appointees to state and announced Wednesday by Gov. Roy Cooper’s office.

The appointees are:

  • John M. Harris to the Auctioneers Commission. Harris, of Winston-Salem, is a principal at J. Harris Legal and has more than nine years of legal and government experience, a news release says.
  • as a member representing military members and veteran on the and Community Service. Sliney, of Whispering Pines, is an attorney-adviser for the Department of the Army — Joint Operations Command and a defense counsel for the New Jersey Air National Guard. She also co-chairs the Department of the Air Force Women’s Initiatives Team.
  • as a public member of the of the North Carolina State Bar of Garner. Hargis, of Garner, has served as a to the general counsel in the Office of the since 2017. Before that, she was the administrative officer for the attorney general in the North Carolina Department of Justice.

The release also announces appointees to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging; North Carolina Arts Council; Bald Head Island Transportation Authority Board of Trustees; Employment Security Board of Review; Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control; Council on Educational Services for Exceptional Children; Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters Licensing Board; the Historic Murfreesboro Commission; State Historical Records Advisory Board; Human Relations Commission; Locksmith Licensing Board; Commission for Mental Health; Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission; NCWorks Commission; State Board of Examiners for Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors; Private Protective Services Board; Real Estate Commission; Council on Sickle Cell Syndrome; and the Supplemental Retirement Board of Trustees.
