Lawyers named to state panels by governor

Gov. Roy Cooper has named two North Carolina lawyers to state agency panels, including one as a chair.

James W. Norment, of New Bern, was appointed chair of the Tryon Palace Commission, a news release says. Norment, a lawyer for Ward and Smith, is a former member of the Tryon Palace Foundation’s board, including service on its executive, finance, audit and nominating committees.

Amy E. Pickle, a senior attorney for state policy for the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University, was tapped as a member-at-large of the Advanced Energy Board of Directors, the release says. The Morrisville attorney previously served five years as a senior attorney at the Southern Environmental Law Center, focusing on water and coastal issues, and as chair of the Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Section of the N.C. Bar Association.

Cooper also made appointments to the following panels:
