Domestic Relations — Parent & Child – Neglect Adjudication – Sister’s Injuries

Domestic Relations — Parent & Child – Neglect Adjudication – Sister’s Injuries

Listen to this article

The respondent-mother gave conflicting stories as to how her baby daughter, “Zabrina,” was injured, and neither story adequately explained the injuries. Since respondent’s elder daughter, “Gianna,” is autistic and minimally verbal, she is limited in her ability to seek help or communicate what occurs in the home. Under these circumstances, the trial court could conclude Gianna is at a substantial risk of impairment and harm in respondent’s care.

We affirm the adjudication of Gianna as neglected.
