The North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys will hold its later this month in Raleigh, capping a monthlong program of special events.

The event’s theme is “Advocating for and Celebrating Positive and Change in the Workplace and Legal Field,” a news release says. The keynote speaker will be , whose LinkedIn biography describes her as a graduate of Creighton University School of Law, a longtime senior leader with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, a and “a subject matter expert specializing on the impact of relational leadership on your and .”

The conference will be Sept. 27 at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree at 4500 Marriott Drive, the release says. There will be a reception, cocktail hour and beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the banquet at 7 p.m. and scholarships and awards presentation at 8:15 p.m.

The event caps a month of virtual classes offered by the association. The CLEs are held from noon to 1:05 p.m. The remaining programs, topics and speakers are:

  • Sept. 10: Women Lawyers LEAD: A Law and Democracy Workshop; Elizabeth Goodwin of LEAD NC, state Rep. Vernetta Alston and state Sen. Lisa Grafstein.
  • Sept 12: AI & Emerging Technologies; Diane Littlejohn, North Carolina Central University School of Law.
  • Sept. 17: Complex Cases Simplified: Gaining Logistical Control From Calendaring to Courtroom; Christina Baldauf and Damon Beaty of Veritext.
  • Sept. 19: Navigating Cases When Abuse is Present; Judge Ashleigh Parker, Wake County District Court.
  • Sept. 24: Legislative Update; Skye David of New Frame.

Member registration is $315 for the programs and banquet and $139 for only the banquet. For nonmembers, the costs are $405 and $189, respectively. The association offers discounts for law students and those in the public interest and government sectors.
