A personal connection to family challenges brought Hilary Hux to practice family law, and the ability to use her skill set and values has kept her focused on it. She is also a board-certified family law specialist.

She recalls representing a mother and father in a protracted battle with a grandparent to maintain their constitutional rights as parents. They had chosen an unconventional lifestyle that the grandparent did not approve of, and Hux felt strongly that they had the right to parent their child in the manner they chose.

“Opposing counsel challenged me in every possible way, and at trial, legal and physical custody was restored to them.”

Hux attributes her success to her ability to empathize with her clients.

“They need a champion who will listen to their concerns in a patient, compassionate and nonjudgmental way and then implement an action plan in line with their priorities,” she says.
