Scott Bluestein brings 33 years of admiralty and maritime law experience to his practice, drawing from his Charleston upbringing where he developed an affinity for boats and the beach. His fascination with maritime work began watching longshoremen load and unload ocean-going vessels during visits to his grandmother.
Bluestein’s practice has connected him with maritime lawyers, clients and adjusters in major port cities across the United States and worldwide. His most memorable cases involve helping injured clients and families navigate tragic marine casualties, serving as both counselor and attorney during difficult times. He has handled injuries from vessel wakes, ship falls, winches, monkey fists, jet ski accidents and vessel collisions.
A notable case involved arresting an abandoned ocean-going ship in Charleston Harbor on the eve of COVID, requiring him to care for and repatriate the crew while shepherding the first online U.S. Marshal vessel sale with a London vessel broker.
Bluestein serves as a proctor in admiralty with the Maritime Law Association and is a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Institute.
