Patrick Flanagan Partner Cranfill Sumner, Charlotte

Patrick Flanagan serves as vice chair of the Employment Law Practice Group and chair of the Municipalities and Public Entities Practice Group at Cranfill Sumner.

His practice focuses on defending municipalities, public entities and employers in employment law, civil rights and government liability and matters. He also handles premises liability claims and represents homeowners’ associations and nonprofit organizations. His trial experience includes wrongful termination, civil rights violations, excessive force claims, wrongful death, contract disputes, defamation and negligence cases.

He regularly handles administrative matters before agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and serves as a certified mediator through the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission.

Before joining Cranfill Sumner, he served as a captain in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps and as a special assistant U.S. attorney. He holds admission to all United States district courts in the state, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
