Charlotte School of Law has tapped Chidi Ogene, formerly the interim dean at fellow InfiLaw school Florida Coastal School of Law, as the school’s next president. Ogene will succeed former president Don Lively, who will become the president of Arizona Summit School of Law, also an InfiLaw entity.
Ogene will become the school’s third president and the first African-American to lead the school. Ogene, who earned his law degree from Georgetown University School of Law, began his legal career with international law firm Sullivan & Cromwell and previously served as General Counsel of InfiLaw.
Ogene said he looks forward to helping Charlotte, currently unranked in the U.S. News & World Report Law School rankings, “become the benchmark in 21st century education.”
“I am honored by the opportunity to join Charlotte School of Law,” Ogene said. “I have had the privilege of working with several of the school’s faculty and staff in my prior roles with the organization, and I look forward to reacquainting myself with old friends and making new ones.”
Charlotte Dean Jay Conison wrote in a statement that “The faculty and staff are very enthusiastic that Chidi has joined us as President and look forward to benefiting from his leadership and vision.”
