North State Law is a professional and occupational license defense and administrative law firm founded in 2019 in North Carolina by Nicholas “Nick” Dowgul, owner. The firm has three attorneys and its core values are honesty, ongoing communication, innovation and transparency.

Dowgul said he had represented some licensed professionals in 2017 and 2018 and that was something he was used to doing having done criminal defense at the beginning of his career, making it a natural fit. He explained he wanted to create a firm that would be unique but also fit with his personal viewpoints.

The firm has grown by hiring employees who believe in helping people do what they are passionate about, which is work in their chosen profession. This has helped the firm reach other professions that most people don’t know require a license or certification.

Every year the firm sponsors and exhibits at the North Carolina Nurses Association annual convention. It supports the North Carolina Pig Jig, a BBQ competition with proceeds benefiting the NC Masonic Home for Children in Oxford.
